Bird's-eye view of the Little America Hotel near Rock Springs and Green River, Wyoming
Nearly a century ago, a Utah sheep herder named S.M. Covey looked out at the empty miles of western Wyoming and saw something most people missed: a need. Travelers crossing this stretch of high desert had hundreds of miles between them and anything resembling comfort. In 1934, he built something to change that. He called it Little America, named for Admiral Byrd’s Antarctic basecamp, a place of warmth and refuge at the edge of the world. Ninety years later, that is still exactly what this place is.

A New Chapter, the Same Promise

Little America Wyoming is entering a new chapter, and we want you to hear it straight from us: we are here, we are open, and we are as committed as ever to the hospitality that has defined this property since those earliest days on the Lincoln Highway.

The best I-80 rest stop in Wyoming is not slowing down. The Travel Center has been newly renovated and is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. The Fuel Center is running around the clock, ready for road trippers and professional drivers alike, with 16 fueling islands, a Driver’s Lounge, and 14 private marble showers. The RV Park welcomes guests to all 42 spacious sites with full hookups, fire pits, and access to everything on the property. And the Penguin Deli & Grill and Hot Grill & Deli are still turning out the made-from-scratch meals that have kept people coming back for generations.

Yes, including the $1 soft serve cone. Some things are sacred.

The Oasis Endures

A traveler crossing Wyoming in the middle of winter, or the middle of the night, or simply the middle of a very long drive, deserves a place that genuinely cares about the crossing. That is what Little America Wyoming has always been, and what we intend to keep being.

When you pull off at I-80 Exit 68 in Little America, Wyoming, you are not just stopping at a rest stop. You are stopping at a landmark. One that has fueled, fed, and sheltered generations of travelers making this same crossing, and one that will be here for generations more.

The road changes. Tires wear down. Fuel tanks empty out. Hunger sets in somewhere around milepost 60. And when it does, Little America is right where it has always been, at the intersection of the open road and genuine Western hospitality.

We have been welcoming travelers since 1934. We are not done yet.
